Why I am here

Since I was younger I have always enjoyed 2 things, Makeup and writing, more than anything else. For the longest time, I assumed that there wasn’t much of a future in Makeup. Now, that I am getting older I am realizing that possibilities really are limitless. So here I am starting a blog about Makeup. There are a lot of people out there that have no knowledge of makeup or how to use it. That is where I want to come in. I have been giving makeup tips and lessons to friends and family since I got my first compact and eye liner. I also want to spend most of my time on product reviews. I have a feeling there are a lot of women out there, like me, who spend tons of money every year on cosmetics. Time and time again, I buy the newest product on the line, only to be disappointed. Then I thought, how nice would it be to have someone who will test these new products and give an unbiased review. Well, who better than me?

Fall 2010

As you may have noticed this summer was all about color. From the rainbow colored nails to water color eye shadows, every where you look women are trying bold new looks. I am loving all the bright colors and it came as no surprise to me that the world of fashion is loving it too. This fall is all about deep, rich, and bold styles. So put away your taupe nail polish and your natural shadow pallets and have some fun with color.

I know the idea of mixing different colors of liner and shadow may seem a little tacky at first. A little imagination and a good blending brush will take you all the way from tacky to sexy with this fierce look. If you are still a little skeptical about this idea start out by picking two colors you think will go best with your eyes.

For example, if you have brown eyes your could try purple and green together or my favorite purple and gold. Make sure you put the darker color all along the crease and outer corner of your eye. Then use the lighter color all over the lid and in the corner of the eye. Blend!  If you are feeling really bold use a third color along the lower lash line to make your eyes really pop. You can also do this with the darker color you already used. Finish up with your favorite liner and mascara.

Above is an example of me wearing Mac Pigments in Electric Eel, Swish, and Violet. (Nordstrom $19.50) I have dark blue eyes so I wanted take the easy route and try blue, purple and pink. I added the pink (Swish) to the center of lid to blend in with the purple and give a extra bit of shine. I completed my look with Aquaphore for a soft natural pale lip and Mac Blush in Dollymix which is soft pink.

According to Glamour magazine, fall 2010 is all about nail polish. Earlier this year the rainbow nails became very popular fast. (rainbow nails- different color on each nail) All summer long we have been seeing this trend and again it's not going to stop here. During the summer it was all about the bright fun of neon colors. This fall is more about the metallics, gem stones, and anything that screams glam. My favorite glam/metallic polish is the Dior Vernis in Silver purple or black sequins. (Macy's $20) China Glaze also came out with a selection of colors called The Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns and it is full of shiny metallic colors. (thebeautyclutch.com $5.99/each) It doesn't matter how you do your nails this fall because it is all about the color.
